As Tunisia’s miserable campaign ends with zero points and a goal difference of minus-10, here are some other poor campaigns from previous editions

North Korea (2010): Went down fighting 1-2 to Brazil before being routed 0-7 by Portugal and 0-3 by Ivory Coast.

Saudi Arabia (2002): Began with a 0-8 rout to Germany, followed by 0-1 and 0-3 losses to Cameroon and Ireland.

Greece (1994): Opened with 0-4 defeats to Argentina and Bulgaria, before losing 0-2 to Nigeria.

El Salvador (1982): Suffered the heaviest defeat in World Cups, losing 1-10 to Hungary followed by 0-1 and 0-2 losses to Belgium and Argentina.

New Zealand (1982): Lost 2-5 to Scotland, 0-3 to the USSR and 0-4 to Brazil in a forgettable maiden World Cup journey.

Mexico (1978): Began with a 1-3 defeat to Tunisia, followed by a 0-6 rout by West Germany and 1-3 defeat to Poland.

Zaire (1974): Lost 0-2 to Scotland followed by a 0-9 thrashing by Yugoslavia and a 0-3 loss to Brazil.

Haiti (1974): In the last time they qualified for the World Cup, Haiti lost 1-3 to Italy before being hammered 0-7 by Poland and 1-4 by Argentina.
