The first CWG participant to be victimised by the careless state of the Games Village is none other than our own Indian boxer Akhil Kumar. The boxing team who checked into the residential block on Saturday evening were shocked to find defending CWG gold medallist Akhil Kumar's bed collapsing.
Narrating the whole incident, an upset Akhil said that when he sat down to relax after a long journey at the Games Village, his bed suddenly collapsed.u00a0"We reached the Olympic Bhavan late in the afternoon to collect our accreditation cards. But when I sat down on my bed to rest, it collapsed," he said.
"I checked the bed and part of it has no plywood on it. It was very disappointing after enduring a long journey. The athletes are at least entitled a decent place to rest. Even the toilets are not very clean. I have told coach G S Sandhu about this," said the boxer who will compete in the 56kg category.
The Olympic Bhavan became a waiting room for the 10-member Indian team for approximately four hours before they could take a bus to the Games' Village.
