Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra powered their way to a second consecutive victory of the season as they overcame Holy Name, Colaba in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association girls under-16 inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan on Saturday.
Riding on Anushri Arora's brace and skipper Kareena Fagwani's opener, the Bandra side eased to comfortable 3-0 win.
AVM began to dictate terms right from the start using their physical presence against their diminutive counterparts. Using it to their advantage, captain Fagwani scored the opening goal as goalkeeper Lovina Noronha failed to grasp a straightforward chance.
However, things went from bad to worse for the Colaba side after they conceded their second goal. The drop in confidence was evident as they could barely create any chances.
Striker Anushri claimed that her team's good performance has been a result of their hardwork as they are putting in an extra effort in the training session to be on par with other teams.
"We were not taking our training seriously due to which we got knocked out early last year after Bombay Scottish, Mahim beat us 4-0. But, we have put that behind us and are looking to taste more success in the future," said Anushri.
