Top seed Aryan Goveas defeated Haryana's Shrey Gupta, seeded second, in a tough three-setter to lift the boys' U-14 singles title in the AITA Championships Series tournament in Amritsar yesterday.

Aryan began strongly, breaking Shrey once to win the first set 6-3, but the Haryana lad came back strongly in the second, pressurising Aryan into mistakes to win it 6-1, taking the match into the decider.
Trailing 1-2, and then 3-4 in the final set, Aryan got into his rhythm to reel off three games in a row and win the title round 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
