India's Somdev Devvarman failed to make use of his lucky break to participate in the ATP Toronto Masters, losing in straight sets to France's Gael Monfils 6-7, 3-6 in the first round yesterday.


India's Somdev Devvarman failed to make use of his lucky break to participate in the ATP Toronto Masters, losing in straight sets to France's Gael Monfils 6-7, 3-6 in the first round yesterday.

Devvarman got a chance when Chile's Fernando Gonzalez, who has not played since the French Open due to a left calf injury, pulled out.
