The IWF were fined USD 5,00,000 of which they could only manage USD 125000 and the rest was paid up by the CWG OC.

According to sources, Sanamacha Chanu, who had earlier faced a two-year ban after testing positive during the 2004 Athens Olympics, tested positive in tests conducted during the CWG trials. Though she is not in the CWG squad, it is a huge embarrassment for the new IWF panel, who are claiming to do away with the dope menace for good.

As per the regulations of the international weightlifting body, Chanu could face a life ban if her 'B' sample also turns out to be positive.
