Opening the batting for Karnatak, Pawar scored 69 to help his team declare at 259 for nine. He along with captain Sachin Wagh (98) put on 112 runs in 186 balls for the third wicket in a drawn game.

His consistent performances in this year's Kanga League and other local matches, resulted in him earning a place in the Ranji Trophy team for their first match against Jammu and Kashmir.

Interestingly, after being picked in the 15-member squad, Pawar was replaced Praful Waghela in the squad due to shoulder injury.

It is learnt that Pawar faces slight discomfort while throwing. Since making his debut for Mumbai in November 2011, he has been a regular member of the slip cordon and has fielded close-in. Hence, his shoulder injury should not have been a problem.
