Saumya Karki (left) enjoyed a Super Saturday as she defeated Urvashi Joshi twice in the day to register wins in the under- 17 and under-19 category of the Bombay Gymkhana- Maharashtra State Open Squash Championships.

She won in the under-17 category with scores of 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 and in the u-19 section by 11-3, 11-6, 11-2. She also made it to the women's final but lost to International Joshna Chinnappa 11-8,12-10, 11-9.

Saumya, who turns 16 on Tuesday, claimed that the squash has become an integral part of her life and after having played a few international tournaments, she is ready to pursue the sport as a career.

"Squash is more than a hobby to me. Having played five international tournaments, it not only allows you develop your game, but also helps in gauging yourself in the international arena," said the Jai Hind College student.

Men's third seed Choong Kam Hing of Malaysia overcame Mahesh Mangaonkar 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 in a men's final that lasted 35 minutes.
