Frenchman Gael Monfils defeated Benjamin Becker in straight sets 7-6, 6-4 to advance at the Paris Masters yesterday.

Monfils will now playu00a0 Spain's Fernando Verdasco. The sixth seed made it into the third round as he bounced back from dropping the first set to knock out home favourite Arnaud Clement.
Verdasco triumphed 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 in a match which featured nine breaks of serve, six of them from the Spaniard.
Earlier, David Nalbandian swept aside Marcel Granollers to set up a second-round meeting with Andy Murray.
The Argentine cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over his Spanish opponent, who last weekend reached the final at the Valencia Open.
Nalbandian broke five times on his way to a comfortable victory in one hour seven minutes and will now play third seed Murray.
