Oasis Star, the highest rated horse in the history of Indian racing, died in Dubai on Friday night

Owned by Shapoor Mistry, Cyrus Mistry and Tariq Vaidya, the six-year-old mare trained by Cooji Katrak was sent to race at Dubai after she had repeatedly established her superiority over top class horses in India.

She ran her third start at Dubai on Friday night in which she finished last, indicating all was not well with her.

Later she suffered a heart attack that proved fatal.u00a0 When MiD DAY contacted trainer Cooji Katrak at the Invitation Cup weekend races at Mahalaxmi, he was in a state of shock, and appeared too shattered to even talk about the incident.

This is second such incident in less than a week when an Indian champion breathed its last in Dubai as just on Monday, last year's Indian Derby winner Antonios had died in Dubai, reportedly due to a pelvic fracture.
