Third seeds Leander Paes of India and Lukas Dlouhy of the Czech Republic were knocked out of the ATP World Tour Finals campaign 6-3, 7-6(3) by sixth seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski of Poland in group A last night.
The Polish duo, who are making their fourth appearance at the season finale, capitalised to break serve in the sixth game and clinch a one-set lead punishing Dlouhy for two double faults. Neither team was able to break through in the second set, and Fyrstenberg and Matkowski clinched victory in the deciding tie-break in 76 minutes.
Fyrstenberg and Matkowski, arrived in London in fine form and improved to a 36-27 match record in the season.
The Poles have reached the finals in four of their past six ATP World Tour tournaments and won their 11th team title in Eastbourne in June.
