Dipa Karmakar was India's star at the Rio Olympics on Sunday by becoming the first Indian gymnast to qualify for the individual vault final. However, Indian fans missed the main event when official broadcasters Star Sports only showcased her second attempt and skipped the life-threatening Produnova.

After the Tripura-born athlete accomplished the feat, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. tweeted: "#DipaKarmarkarâ¦they said they would show you but never didâ¦channels interested in the other country athletes! Good luck!".
Sr Bachchan has been one of the major known faces voicing his support on social media. After playing out a 2-2 draw against Japan in their first Olympic match in 36 years, the Indian Women's hockey team won accolades from Big B, who tweeted: "RioOlympics 2016..well done Indian Women's Hockey teamâ¦down 0 - 2 against Japan and drew the game 2-2..all the best!!"
Incidentally, a sports enthusiast tweeted a photograph in which Bachchan was seen with India's gold medal-wining boxer Kaur Singh during the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi.
