Jason Bohn could clearly see that fellow professional Tiger Woods was in pain when the world number one withdrew during the final round at the Players Championship yesterday.
Bohn, who was paired with Woods, first noticed the 14-time major champion was struggling at the sixth hole at the Sawgrass TPC.
When Woods, citing neck pain and a suspected disk injury in his upper back, subsequently quit after hitting his second shot at the seventh hole he and Bohn shook hands.
"I thought it was his wrist, because I saw him the hole before hit a shot and jam his wrist," Bohn said.
"But he said it was his neck and he was in a lot of pain. When I shook his hand he kind of flinched a little bit. He definitely looked in a lot of pain."
Bohn said he had already noticed Woods as he appeared to try to stretch his neck, but hadn't realised why.
"I saw him on the first tee doing some warm-up exercises with his neck but I don't know his routine, so I don't know if that's part of his stretching out or trying to get himself ready to go," Bohn said.
Bohn is no stranger to injury. He had major back surgery two years ago and when it went wrong, had two more operations.
