For 23-year-old Manu Attri, qualifying for the Rio Games is just the start to live his father Raja Ram's dreams. Attri and his partner B Sumeeth Reddy became the first Indian men's badminton doubles pair to qualify for the Olympics.

Attri said that though his father is an athletics coach, he let him choose badminton over track and field events.

"Qualification is the first step towards living my father's dream of representing my country at the Olympics. That in turn became my dream and today I am so close to fulfilling it.

"I take it as a responsibility and would want to win a medal for my dad," said men's double World No 21 Attri on the sidelines of a felicitation ceremony organised by his employers, Indian Oil in Bandra yesterday.
