Amanda Anisimova reveals lying to strangers about her profession

World No. 10 tennis ace Amanda Anisimova is no stranger to the spotlight, having finished as a Grand Slam runner-up twice in the last one year (at the 2025 Wimbledon and US Open). However, the American recently revealed that she doesn't enjoy stardom too much, and often lies to strangers about her profession in order to keep a low profile.

In a recent fan interaction, the 24-year-old said: "I actually lie in an Uber, especially. I normally say that I just do finance. Then if they ask me more questions, that's where it gets bad [since her lie may get caught.]"

Despite a breakthrough season last year, Anisimova's recent results have been disappointing, particularly at the most recent Wimbledon, where she was knocked out in the third round by compatriot Madison Keys. Following that defeat, an emotional Anisimova said that her game was in bad shape, and she was struggling to enjoy being on court.

However, the US Open which begins on August 30, will offer her a shot at redemption. And she'll be keen to go one step further than last year and clinch a maiden Grand Slam title.
