She was disqualified for a false start and her gold was given to Nigeria's Oludamola Osayemi. Subsequently, bronze medal winner Natasha Mayers will get silver and fourth placed Endacott Katherine will win bronze.

The chaos began when England's Laura Turner was disqualified for a false start but England officials felt that Pearson had also false started and lodged a protest. "The protest has been upheld and Sally has been disqualified," Pearson's coach Sharon Hannon said.

According to an IAAF official, a protest can only be lodged 30 minutes after the results appear on the screen. England followed the IAAF protocol and their protest stands legitimate.

However, the official also informed that Australia could go to the court of arbitration. But that will be a lengthy process.u00a0
