Baroda triumphant in under-16 cricket tournament

Baroda outplayed Mumbai-based Ravi Shastri XI in all departments to clinch the Ultratech Cement Cup under-16 cricket Tournament recently.

Baroda, clinched the title by virtue of their 91-run first innings lead. When stumps were drawn on the third and final day, Baroda were 193 for seven.

Baroda skipper Kartik Kakade claimedu00a0 21 wickets in the tournament and was adjudged Best Player and Best Bowler. Manvinder Kaushik walked away with the Best Batsman award.

Former India spinner Sairaj Bahutule, former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, all-rounder Balwinder Singh Sandhu and former Ranji Trophy player Sanjay Patil gave away the awards.

Vengsarkar praised the under-14 boys for the splendid performance they dished out in a tournament held for boys under-16.u00a0 The Mumbai Cricket Association vice-president urged the young guns not to get carried away by the IPL bug and to focus on their game.
