The Scot made the semi-finals of this year's French Open but was knocked out of the Australian Open and Wimbledon at the quarter-final stage.

With Rafael Nadal unable to defend his title due to a wrist injury, World No 1 Novak Djokovic is the men's top seed, with five-times US Open champion Roger Federer No 2, which means the arch-rivals could meet in this year's final at Flushing Meadows.

Australian Open winner Stanislas Wawrinka is no 3 third, with Spain's David Ferrer 4 and Milos Raonic 5. Czech Tomas Berdych is 6th, and Grigor Dimitrov 7th. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (9th) and Kei Nishikori (10th) complete the the top 10.
