Indian para powerlifter Ashok Malik finished a creditable fourth in the men's lightweight category at the Commonwealth Games here on Friday.

Ashok's tally of 143.8 points was not enough to be in the medal bracket. Mark Swan of England won the gold with 153.9 points while Roland Ezuruike (153.9 points) of Nigeria and Bonnie Bunyau Gustin (153.5) of Malaysia took the silver and bronze respectively.

Another Indian in the fray, Paramjeet Kumar finished seventh overall with 135.6 points. Meanwhile, in the women's lightweight para powerlifting event, Jaspreet Kaur (96.4 points) finished sixth, while Suman Devi (88.4 points) came eighth. Later in the day, the Indian pair of Rupa Rani Tirkey (lead) and Pinki Singh (skip) beat South Africa 2-0 (6-4, 7-5) in their second lawn bowls group-stage match in section B.
