Pune: It has been drizzling continuously for the last three days here in Pune, and some help will be required from the rain gods if the Saturday card has to go through, feels Suhail Mohammed, the man who looks after the maintenance of the monsoon racing track at the Pune racecourse.
After inspecting the racetrack around 11.30 am yesterday, Suhail told mid-day, "If there is a let up in rain by late afternoon or evening, and it doesn't return thereafter, I am hopeful we will have racing tomorrow (Satruday)."
When asked for a fresh update at 5 pm yesterday evening, his message to this correspondent read: "There is some respite now after a heavy shower, but still we will have to wait till tomorrow (Saturday) morning before taking final call after a fresh inspection."
The club's racing department, however, has published a card of eight races for today, the first race scheduled to start at 2 pm.
