Defending champion Federer and four-time winner Nadal are heavy favourites to meet for the fourth time in five years on the last day of the tournament.
One of the biggest rivalries in sport was put on hold for a year until the pair met in the final of the Madrid Masters on Sunday.
Nadal came out on top to extend his winning record against the world number one to 14-7.
They are expected to face off again two weeks on Sunday but each was reluctant to look further ahead.
Federer said: "Fourteen days down the road and six matches for each of those to get into the final. It's not my priority, playing Rafa. I've to defeat six other players before that, and likewise for him."
Asked who his toughest opponent would be, Nadal said: "I play against a wildcard from France (Gianni Mina), and that's my toughest opponent now. I only can meet with Roger in the final, so it's not a big chance."
