FIH Hockey Pro League: India defeat England, but finish eighth

The Indian men's hockey team displayed remarkable defensive resilience to defeat England 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out after a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture of the FIH Hockey Pro League at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London on Sunday.

The earlier fixture between the teams also went to a shootout with England earning the bonus point. Abhishek, Shilanand Lakra and Hardik Singh converted for India, while Zach Wallace (stroke) and David Goodfield scored for England.

India finished the nine-team league in eighth spot, just one above bottom-placed Pakistan.
