India's Ravinder Singh, who won gold in the Greco Roman 60Kg category at the CWG yesterday told MiD DAY just how badly he had been waiting for this success. A gold medallist at the last three editions of the Commonwealth Championships in South Africa 2005, Canada in 2007 and India in 2009, Ravinder was desperate for a gold in the Commonwealth Games.

However, since wrestling was not a part of the Melbourne edition of the Games in 2006, Ravinder couldn't wait for the Delhi CWG to begin.

"It has been very hard for me to wait so long. But I want to prove to my critics that I can be a champ at the CWG too. Four years has been a very long time, but I am 100 per cent sure of winning gold here in Delhi," Ravinder told MiD DAY at the Games Village two days before his gold medal-winning feat.

Ravinder waited for four years, but it took less than four minutes to force England's Christopher Terence Bosson into submission for his gold.
