India's next generation of boxing stars has made a statement at the World Boxing Futures Cup 2026 in Bangkok. Four gifted Indian boxers - Chandrika, Gunjan, Joyshree Devi, and Ambekar Meetei - punched their tickets to the finals after a run of excellent semifinal performances.

The tournament, which features elite youth talent competing in Olympic weight categories, has become a showcase for India's tactical superiority and raw power in the ring.

The Indian quartet shines in the semi-final

Chandrika had one of the day's best performances in the women's 51kg division. Throughout the fight, the Indian boxer showed greater control and aggression against Morocco's Rihab Hamdoune. Chandrika won the Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) after the referee intervened in the second round due to her persistent pressure and defensive combinations.

Chandrika's clear victory guaranteed her a spot in the championship match and established her as one of India's best medal possibilities.

Gunjan faced a challenging opponent in North Korea's Yu Gyong Kim, but the Indian boxer remained composed and technically sharp throughout the contest. Throughout all three rounds, Gunjan controlled the exchanges and delivered a strategically sound and disciplined performance. Because of her obvious domination in the ring, the judges unanimously gave her a 5-0 ruling. Gunjan will enter the final full of confidence and hope to end her tournament with a gold medal.

Joyshree Devi's victory in the women's 54 kg division was arguably the strongest among the Indian team. In the semifinal, Joyshree faced Sofia Ramirez of Mexico, and she didn't take long to establish her dominance. She immediately overpowered her opponent with a barrage of precise blows, displaying an aggressive offensive intent from the first bell.

Joyshree won the Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) after the referee stopped the match in the opening round. Joyshree's dominant performance demonstrated her strength and self-assurance, positioning her as one of India's top gold hopefuls going into the final.

As the competition heads into its final day, Chandrika, Gunjan, Joyshree Devi and Ambekar Meetei will now aim to convert their impressive semifinal victories into gold medals. The four rising stars for India have a chance at creating history on March 15 in Bangkok, Thailand.
