American singer Mariah Carey and James Packer, the son of World Series Cricket founder Kerry, parted ways on Thursday.
"They are not together right now. They split a couple of weeks ago. It's possible they will get back together. They are still talking, but James needed a break," a source close to Packer told People magazine.
James proposed to Mariah with a 35-carat diamond engagement ring in January at her hometown, New York, months after making their relationship public last September.
"James is all about business and making money," the source added. According to reports, James' lifestyle isn't in sync with Mariah's.
"Some of Mariah's eccentric ways, especially her spending habits, caused drama.
"James is the most generous person ever, but he definitely doesn't agree with senseless spending," the source explained.
The couple were last photographed together in Los Angeles last May.
