Asian Games 2026: Men’s, women’s TT teams thrash Pak 3-0 in pre-quarters

India's women's and men's table tennis teams advanced to the quarter-finals of the Asian Games following identical 3-0 wins over their respective Pakistani rivals, here on Monday.

Sutirtha Mukherjee got the women off to a flying start, beating Aleena Khan 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 in just 10 minutes. Then, rising 17-year-old Syndrela Das beat Kalsoom Khan 11-6, 11-7, 11-5. Sreeja Akula sealed the tie, breezing past Fatima Khan 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 in 11 minutes.

For the men, Harmeet Desai beat Pakistan's Muhammad Khan 11-4, 11-3, 11-5 in the opener, while the captain G Sathiyan registered a 11-1, 11-8, 11-9 win over Abbas Khan. Then, Payas Jain blanked the other Muhammad Khan 11-2, 11-5, 11-7.
