Chandu Borde, the former India batsman, remembered AG Milkha Singh yesterday as a lovable character who was a happy-go-lucky cricketer.

Milkha Singh, 75, passed away in Chennai yesterday following a cardiac arrest. His four Tests were played against three different opponents - Australia (1959-60), Pakistan (1960-61) and England (1961-62) and his highest score of 35 was scored against Pakistan at Delhi.
"Milkha was a good striker of the ball and an elegant left-handed batsman. I remember him fielding at the eastern side of the Brabourne Stadium in the 1961 Test against England and getting teased by the crowd," recalled Borde, who said he didn't know Milkha as well as his brother Kripal Singh, his fellow national selector in the mid-1980s.
"The Singhs were a cricketing family. The two boys played for India while their father AG Ram Singh was a good cricketer and coach," said Borde from Pune.
