Shaw is touted as the future of Mumbai bating. At 14, he was given a playing membership of the Cricket Club of India (CCI), but plays for Parkophene Cricketers in the 'B' division of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League, a tournament in which he has scored two centuries.

But on Saturday, Shaw did not figure in Parkophene's playing XI against Parel Sporting at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivali. This is Shaw's maiden appearance at this year's Kanga League as he was away with the Mumbai under-16 team.

Parkophene's coach Bhimesh Shah refused to comment on why Shaw was excluded from the playing XI.
