India badminton star PV Sindhu penned a heartfelt note on social media, expressing her love for Singapore, going as far to say her love for the South East Asian country is second only to her own nation. The double Olympic medallist said that Singapore has not only given her many memorable moments on court, but also "shaped" her husband Venkata Datta Sai's life in many ways.

Hyderabad-born Sai, who is an executive director at a data management firm, completed his schooling at Overseas Family School in Singapore.

Sindhu, 30, who will face Riko Gunji in the Round of 16 of the Singapore Open on Thursday, shared a couple of pictures with her husband to her 3.9 million followers on Instagram. "Singapore, you raised my husband in so many beautiful ways, and gave me memories on court, love from the stands, and moments I will always smile about. India is home. Always and forever. But Singapore, you are the closest thing to it," wrote Sindhu, who tied in the knot on December 22, 2024.
