Jugraj Singh scored four goals as the India thrashed Canada 14-3 to top the pool standings and make the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup here on Saturday.

Nilakanta Sharma opened the scoring for India (4th min), followed by a 10th minute goal from Rajinder Singh. However, Canada responded a minute later as Brendan Guraliuk converted from a penalty corner.

India then hit back with two more goals through Jugraj and Amit Rohidas in the 12th and 15th minute respectively, to end the quarter 4-1 in India's favour. In the second quarter, Rajinder (24th min), Dilpreet Singh (25th min) and Jugraj (26th min) scored quickfire goals to give India a 7-1 lead.

Jugraj scores four

Canada then pulled one back via a penalty stroke scored by Matthew Sarmento (35th min), but Jugraj soon completed his hat-trick (39th min) with Selvam Karthi (43rd min) also scoring to leave India with a 9-2 advantage. The final quarter began with Rohidas's scoring from a penalty corner (46th min) followed by Jugraj's penalty stroke (50th min). Canada scored from a penalty corner too via Jyothswaroop Sidhu's to take the score to 3-11. India skipper Sanjay then scored (56th min) from a penalty stroke, before Abhishek finished it off with a brace (57th and 59th min). India will play Belgium in the final on Sunday.

India juniors rout Oman

Meanwhile, Team India romped to a 17-0 win over Oman at the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup here on Saturday. It was the hosts's second consecutive win, after they beat Chile 7-0 on Friday.
