‘Women can be more than one thing’: Maria Sharapova

Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova launched her new podcast called Pretty Tough on Wednesday. The Russian former World No. 1 revealed the inspiration for the podcast was derived from a desire to show the world that women can do way more than what people think they are capable of.

"For much of my career I heard that I couldn't be gritty on the court and graceful off it. Women are constantly faced with sceptics trying to put them in a box. Pretty Tough is about breaking down the misconception that women can't be more than one thing: Elegant and enterprising, pretty and tough" Sharapova, 39, said on an Instagram post.

"I want to talk to women who believe in more than just what others think of them," added Sharapova, whose first guest on the show is Hollywood actor Zoe Saldanha.
