World Champion D Gukesh lost his third match at the event, going down to local star Anish Giri in the seventh round of the Tata Steel Masters on Sunday.

It proved to be a tough day for Indians, as Arjun Erigaisi also lost to Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus of Turkey, while Aravindh Chithambaram succumbed to Dutchman Jorden van Foreest. Meanwhile, R Praggnanandhaa was held to a draw by Matthias Bluebaum of Germany.
