Join Mansha as she gets married
7 PM: Disturbed by society's hypocrisy in judging a woman as good or bad, depending on her marital status, theatre group Byka & Company decided to make a play centering around that theme. "It's 2017, but feminism are still an illusion. Even today, middle-class Indian families put the same emphasis on their daughter's marriage as they did thirty years ago. The opinion of a woman whether to marry or not is never given a chance of consideration. Our satirical attempt uses wit to question these beliefs," says actress Aarti Tiwari.

While the writer and actor are of the protagonist's age, the play is portrayed from the perspective of Mansha's mother. "This challenging aspect makes it more interesting in terms of process, outlook and outcome," says the writer, Ketki Pandit.

The play debuted at Expression Lab's Grand Solo Festival in December 2015 and won a Jury Special Mention Award. Till date, it has been performed in Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Sidhi, Nashik, Belgaum and in the Kokan at some national and international festivals. It has also been performed at unconventional spaces like marriage halls, book cafes and classrooms.
