Off Campus is the as good as a teen drama can get. A creative girl meets a hot jock (with a good heart), and they strike a deal - he makes the object of her desires jealous and she helps him pass an exam. And voilà , sparks fly.
It reminded me of my first year in college where I had the good fortune of dating a jock (basketball captain, no less), who lost interest in me in three months. But, it was an ideal three months of pretending one is living in a fairytale world - your college life begins with getting attention from everyone's most desired. Amaze, amaze, amaze.
But like my first year crush, Garrett Graham is a man written by a woman, and so underneath his Casanova image, he is a nice guy. And hence, the sweet, creative Hannah Wells gets a boy who truly cares about her.
The show has been lapped by all the 40-year-olds in the world - who like me, maybe are reliving their college years. Much like last year, when we all watched Conrad Fisher sweep Belly Conklin off her feet in Paris, this summer we are sweating over the hot bodies of Garrett, Logan, and Dean. Everyone is pretty, everyone is buff, and all love stories just work out. And if the one who likes you doesn't like you, then you will meet someone else at a bar who is hotter. Life is perfect. And because the characters are written by a woman (the show is based on books by Elle Kennedy), all these bad boys eventually turn good for the curvy heroine.
So yes, the best part: it will make you feel butterflies, it will make you feel young, and it will give you an array of hot men to stare at. The con - this is not real life. Such boys don't exist.
The boys, no, no, men I like are even more unrealistic - but they make me feel safe, and protected. And they are very age appropriate. These are the men of the show, Supernatural (2005-2020): Dean and Sam Winchester, especially Dean.
What do the brothers do? They are hunters - who hunt vampires, demons, werewolves, and every supernatural evil. How unrealistic, but how sexy, right? Dean is played by actor Jensen Ackles, who is so beautiful that I may cry. The fact that he is pretty, well built, wears flannel, denims and boots, loves eating, drinking beer, has no clue how the Internet works, and is a man who will save you from anything - now that's a fictional character I love.
So, if you are in your forties, and all you can do it watch Off Campus and feel a certain craving, watch Supernatural. It will fulfil all your desires, I promise.
