While there is much to love in this game, I must complain that the tutorial doesn’t do a good job of adequately training you for what’s to come. It is frustrating and takes a while to figure out how to progress.

So the story is that you are a federal marshal named Justine who is possessed by a serial killer called Dr Carnival. The objective of the game is to defeat all the serial killers in the hotel. For every stage, you can have a go at it in multiple ways through multiple routes. Each route you select along the way gives you something that you want to compound as you go into the boss battle.

Hotel Barcelona looks really cool; it's got some style elements of No More Heroes, which makes it stand out, but at the same time, the gameplay and combat are fluid and fast. It's a nice mechanism, but if like me you like to explore all the doors you encounter, you will simply be stuck playing a single level over and over again as the time runs out.

Hotel Barcelona has the right mix of a decent enough story, interesting visuals, and fluid combat to keep you hooked for a while. I personally enjoyed it, but it is not an easy game to play even in Story mode. For under Rs 1000, this game is a steal.
