Officials of the Bhosari police station arrested a 20-year-old man yesterday morning for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl after promising her chocolates.
While the alleged incident took place in Khandoba Mal in Bhosari four days ago, the victim informed her mother only yesterday morning, following which her parents registered a complaint against Ramprakash Yadav.u00a0

Police officials said Yadav hailed from Uttar Pradesh and worked as a helper in a private firm in Chakan MIDC area. Yadav was arrested from Chandannagar at a time when he was about to flee the area.
Inspector Sudhir Aspat of the Bhosari police station said, “The accused resides in the same area where the victim lives with her parents and would often lure her with chocolates and other eatables after her parents left for work.
Four days ago, he had called her and promised to give chocolates and allegedly raped her. He then threatened her of dire consequences if she told anybody about the incident.”
Intimidated by Yadav’s threat, the girl did not utter a word about the incident to anyone, but yesterday she mustered courage and told her mother about the mistreatment Yadav had subject her to. u00a0u00a0Aspat said, “We have arrested and booked him under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC. He will be produced in the court on Tuesday.’u00a0
