Catch a play on smoking
5 & 8 PM: Watch a comedy on the rat race, how we cope with it, and what we put our throat and lungs through in the process. Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Dhumrapaan is set in the smoking area of a corporate building over the period of a week, with a bunch of office employees discussing appraisals, politics and relationships.

Meet the man behind the legend
7 PM onwards: You’ve heard his tabla speak, but now, hear Ustad Zakir Hussain speak about his music at the launch of his book Zakir Hussain, A Life In Music. The book is in the form of an extended conversation between him and renowned London-based writer Nasreen Munni Kabir. The two will be exchanging thoughts on music and more and the platform presents a golden opportunity to catch Hussain, the man behind the artist. Kabir has previously chronicled her conversation with Gulzar and also written several books on Bollywood.

Watch a doctor work the camera
11 am to 7 pm: Dr Kiran Desai, a senior medical practitioner and an avid nature and travel photographer is holding an exhibition titled Enchanting Worlds. The family physician, who has been practising for over 40 years, likes to train his lenses on the glories of nature. While his profession and his hobby seem far removed, Desai feels that his camera brings together the ethos of his medical practice, which is the sensitivity and care with which life must be handled. He is also known to not tamper with his photos, and present them as they were taken. To him, that is the true representation of beauty, to present it sans embellishments.

Relive the lost sari art of Chandrakala
11 aM to 7 PM: Vinay Narkar’s new collection revisits the Maharashtrian sari, that was according to tradition offered to a new bride after the first sankranti. According to the designer, Chandrakala now exists only in memory with some tangential references in Marathi and Kannada literature. His research took Narkar to Aundh, Pune and Baroda, where the Maharani would wear the Chandrakala. He has used these references in his own interpretation, using cotton silks, mulberry silks, linen silk and eri silk.

Ponder over the unknown
5 PM: For thousands of years, people have been asking the question — are we alone in the universe? And, we are yet to arrive at a definite conclusion. This session, presented by Dr Henry Throop, will provide an introduction to the field of astrobiology, that will include topics such as search for distant life and distant planets, a discussion on cosmic chemistry and search of our own origins on earth. Throop is a senior scientist with the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson. The talk will discuss the best places in our solar system to search for the possible signs of life today, including Europa and Enceladus, where warm oceans are hidden below thick layers of ice.

Watch a documentary
3 pM to 4.30 PM: Go for a special screening of the documentary From India With Love. The film is about six Americans from diverse backgrounds, all victims of violence. The six embarked on an epic 10-day journey to India in March, 2016. Their trip was inspired by Dr Martin Luther King’s journey to India in 1959.
