While family alleges negligent doctors did not admit the woman, police say they were late in reaching the hospital

Huge ruckus was created in the Smt Sucheta Kriplani Hospital, also known as Lady Harding Hospital, on Wednesday after the family members of a 23-year-old woman, identified as Aarti, claimed she had to give birth to her child outside the hospital.

The family clashed with doctors and hospital staff, and alleged the woman was denied admission in the hospital by doctors, who also misbehaved with them.

Medical negligence?
A police official said they received a call about the incident around noon. "The family members of the woman said that out of sheer negligence, doctors did not want to admit the woman. They demanded action against the hospital staff," said a police official.

The police, however, said the the family reached the hospital quite late and before the woman could enter, she had to deliver the baby. "Hospital staff had nothing to do with the incident. Aarti was brought to the hospital by her family members. Before they could enter, she delivered the child. After that the family went on a rampage," said the official. Due to police intervention, the family finally agreed to get the woman and her baby admitted to the hospital.
