Sir Ian Botham has been named a "sexist relic" after he apparently made a sexist remark about men being "dragged to the supermarket" by their wives on the fourth Ashes test

The 57-year-old cricket commentator said that he would update the wickets for the men who just got in and were dragged to the supermarket by their wives, the Daily Star reported.

The remark attracted a lot of criticism on Twitter, with people even calling him a relic.

An angry viewer Beth West had messaged Sky Sports directly on their Twitter account, saying that it wasn’t 1903 but 2013, that men would be dragged away.

Holly Combe, writer and editor at feminist forum The F-Word reacted on the comment and said that Botham’s comment, which was stupid and sexist, has made her wonder if the former England Test player took the guidance on life from a 1970s stand-up comedy routine.
