It is every coach's dream to see his pupil break a record.u00a0 Hence, it is no surprise that Virender Sehwag's coach AN Sharma was on cloud nine when Sehwag became the second man to score a double century in one-day international cricket -- against the West Indies in the fourth match of the five-match ODI series against the West Indies yesterday.

By doing so, Sehwag went past Sachin Tendulkar's 200 which the batting maestro plundered against South Africa at Gwalior in 2010. "I am speechless. I'm in seventh heaven. I am eagerly waiting Viru's phone call," Sharma told MiD DAY from Delhi.

Sharma couldn't help thinking about the rough time his ward endured after the World Cup. He got treated for his shoulder injury, but didn't find runs easy to come by when he returned to the team for the third Test against England in Edgbaston where he bagged a king pair. "That was a very hard phase for Viru. He used to get very frustrated at times, but I advised him not to worry and only concentrate on his game. I knew that he will score a big ton soon and I am glad he did that in Indore," said Sharma.

Advice
About Sehwag's failure to convert fifties into hundreds in the recent Test series against the West Indies, Sharma said: "He called me after the Test series and I advised him not to attempt too many boundaries in an over. 'Just hang in there and the runs will flow automatically,' I said.

In response, Viru said, 'Sir, when I hit three boundaries in an over I find it easy to score the fourth one too. In fact, I get stamina to hit the ball outside the ground.' "

Sharma felt Tendulkar's record was broken by the right man. "Viru idolises Tendulkar and there isn't a better man to break the record than Viru," said the coach.
