She might have played the girl-next-door in many of her films, but Dia Mirza really is one. Unlike most celebs who would want to be shot and interviewed in a 5-star hotel, she's happy doing the job at Carter Road. She has no qualms going to theatres to watch films or obliging fans with photos and autographs.

She knows everyone in her building and bonds with her security team like they were her best buddies. CS manages to get her attention for a quick interview, even as she's inundated with congratulatory calls for her latest film, Hum Tum aur Ghost:

People's choice
I'm just like any normal girl, and everyone who knows me says that I'm quite a likeable person. I know everyone in my building and we celebrate festivals together. Incidentally, there are many retired people living in my building, who like young, sweet girls, so I am happy to indulge them. After all, we actors are regular people. I don't let my celebrity status affect my relationships. I'm a people's person who makes friends very easily. You'll always find me yapping away to glory with co-passengers in a flight or with people on the sets of my film.

Here I come!
I have no hassles in stepping out in public places. My actor friends ask me how I can go to theatres so freely, but I tell them that I like being normal. When you go to places unannounced, you're not likely to draw much attention. I think people in Mumbai are used to seeing celebrities around. They're too much into their own lives to take notice of or to fuss over us. So, I don't have to think too much about shooting in a place like say, Carter Road. But, I don't think that I would be so reckless in a smaller towns up North. That would be sheer foolishness!

My space
I don't like throwing starry tantrums or stepping on other's toes. Probably that's why controversies don't come chasing me. I'm averse to controversies and to people who can lead me to them; so I stay light years away from that sort of crowd. I'd rather not have attention. I just do my job and come back home. I'm any day happier being in the shadows than in the news for all the wrong reasons.
