Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer has revealed that he is often approached by fans with a request for an autograph on a peach. The mention of the fruit is in reference to an intimate scene in the movie, where Hammer's co-star Timothee Chalamet masturbates using a peach. The 31-year-old actor appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote his Broadway play Straight White Men and said that every night after the show fans would stop him to hand him a peach.

"It's very funny cause the people that come, you can really kind of spot them right away and the biggest dead giveaway is they will normally hand me a peach. I get handed at least a peach or two almost every stage door," he said. "The first time someone handed me a peach I was like, 'Oh, thanks,' and they go, 'No, no no. That's not for you. Will you sign it for me?' And I was like, 'You want me to sign a peach?' and they're like, 'Yeah' and I've got a sharpie in my hand and I'm like, 'OK,' so I sign it and as I hand it back I go, 'You're not gonna eat that, are you?'," he added.

"Look, there's obviously something they can do with it that would be more disturbing. The other side is like they're gonna put that peach on a shelf cause it has my signature and in 10 days it's gonna putrefy and their entire place is gonna be full of fruit flies," Hammer said. "Call Me By Your Name", based on Andre Aciman's 2007 novel of the same name, featured Chalamet as 17-year-old Elio Perlman, whose life changes after meeting Hammer's Oliver, a 24-year-old doctoral student who's working with his father during the summer of 1983. The coming-of-age romantic drama won the Best Adapted Screen trophy at the Academy Awards this year.
