Gadoli encounter: SIT seeks arrest warrant against Gurgaon cops

More than three months after gangster Sandeep Gadoli was shot dead by the Gurgaon police, the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the case sought a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the policemen involved in the shootout at Andheri. However, the Metropolitan Magistrate court did not accept the SIT’s application.

On Monday, the SIT filed an application to issue arrest warrant against the policemen involved in the alleged fake encounter, stating that the Gurgaon cops were not cooperating with the investigation. SIT informed court that they had summoned the policemen but they failed to appear.

The magistrate returned the application and asked the SIT to file it with supporting documents, such as an FIR. In the past, Gadoli’s brother had also filed an application to register a separate FIR against the suspected policemen, but the court rejected the application.

On February 7, Gadoli was shot dead by the Gurgaon police at Hotel Airport Metro in Andheri. It was PSI Pradhuman Yadav who led the police in the shooting.

They alleged that Gadoli opened fire at them, and they merely fired at him in retaliation.

However, the gangster’s family claims that it was a staged encounter that was carried out at the behest of Gadoli’s business rival — Binder Gujjar, a politician from Gurgaon. The next hearing in the matter will take place on May 27.
