Gang-rape in moving car: Mumbai Police can't find Ecco in footage

A day after a college student complained of being gangraped in a moving car, the police are still trying to establish the facts in the incident.

The 20-year-old had claimed that she was picked up from Charkop, Sector 5, when she was on her way to college, by three people in an Ecco. The cops have been unable to find any trace of the car in CCTV footage, despite checking for hours. Also, some of the statements by the girl have puzzled the cops. While the victim claimed that she was thrown out at Aksa beach, her mobile tower location shows Marve beach, more than a kilometre away. The girl also claimed that her hands and legs had been tied before she was pushed out of the car, but she also claimed that she threw stones at the car, which appears impossible if she was tied.

On Thursday, the girl had come to Charkop police station, saying she had been kidnapped and raped by three men in a moving car. “There are many facts that need to be verified,” said a police officer.
