India opener Gautam Gambhir will rejoin the Essex team today after he returned to India for "family reasons" on September 1.
The southpaw, who scored 31, 21, 2 and 0 in England before making a hundred in a drawn match against Gloucestershire on August 30, will be in Canterbury, where Essex play a Championship game against Kent today.

“Essex County Cricket Club can announce that Gautam Gambhir will be returning to the club following a sudden bereavement in his family.
Gautam returned home to India on 1 September but will now rejoin the Essex squad ahead of the trip to Kent on Wednesday (11 September) in the LV County Championship at Canterbury,” a statement on the club’s website said.u00a0This is Gambhir’s maiden stint in English county cricket.
