Farah red flags mounting entourage cost of actors, says it burdens producers

Director-choreographer Farah Khan, who is known for ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’, isn’t very pleased with those stars who add to the woes of the producer with mounting costs. Farah recently appeared on Twin Encounter's latest episode on Chinki Minki's YouTube channel and spoke about the positive changes that she would like to see in the Hindi film industry. She said that the entourage costs of some actors are piling up and they burden the producers. This could affect the work which gets reflected on the screen. She said: “I think bahut zyada entourage cost ho gaya hai. Ek actress 9 jan saath mein leke aate hain. Ek actor 8 jan leke aata hai. That is a waste of resources. Woh film mein dikhta nahi hai, wo cost (An actress brings 9 people, an actor gets 8 people. That does not show on the film)”. She added, “I think that needs to be controlled a bit. Producers pe bahut bhari padta hai (It weighs down on the producers).” This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Delhi shoot for Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ cut short

A series of production houses have shifted base to shoot upcoming popular films after Delhi has shown its expensive side. Makers have to shell out lakhs to shoot at prominent locations in the national capital such as metro stations or the international airport.  According to a report by Hindustan Times, “If you want to shoot at Rajiv Chowk for 4 hours, it means eight lakh rupees for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. GST ki baat agar nahi bhi karte, ₹2,36,000 will be taken by New Delhi Municipal Council, a lakh rupees will be taken by the parking guys. Around two lakh rupees by the Delhi Police for security. You can do the maths,” said a production head.  Among those who have faced the brunt is Aamir Khan-led ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ which has cut its shoot schedule which was originally planned for a longer duration. “The earlier plan was very long, but now it has been shortened. Instead of a month, now it will be shot in Delhi only for 8-10 days, around July,” states the report.  Khan and Darsheel Safary, who co-starred in 'Taare Zameen Par', have reunited for the project after 16 years. Genelia will reportedly play a pivotal role in the film. Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Ulajh’ was also to be shot in Delhi for 12-13 days but since they spent a larger portion of their budget in London, they didn’t have much to shoot back home and hence shifted to Bhopal.  In the film, Jahnvi is shown determined to seek revenge against those who betrayed her and her country. Directed by National Award winner Sudhanshu Saria, the patriotic thriller film also stars Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Mathew. The project follows the journey of a young IFS officer, belonging to a prominent family of patriots, who gets embroiled in a dangerous personal conspiracy while far from her home turf, at a career-defining post.  Besides the two, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2’ has also opted out and will reportedly recreate the national capital in Lucknow. The film will have Vaani Kapoor, and show Riteish Deshmukh as the villain. 'Raid 2' will be released theatrically on November 15, 2024.  (With inputs from Agencies)

‘Salman Khan should come to the temple and seek forgiveness’: Bishnoi community

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is back in the headlines, not for his movies but for the infamous Blackbuck case that doesn’t seem to let him rest even years later. After his ex-girlfriend, Somy Ali apologised to the Bishoi community and urged it to forgive the star in the 1998 poaching case, the President of the All India Bishnoi Society, Devendra Budiya, said that the community will consider the matter if Salman tenders a personal apology. For those unversed, Salman Khan is accused of hunting down blackbucks at Bawad in Mathania near Jodhpur in September 1998 during the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya’s film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. Two days back, Somy Ali appealed to the Bishnoi community to forgive Salman Khan, saying, "I apologise on his behalf if he has made a mistake; please forgive him. Taking someone's life is not acceptable, be it Salman or an average common man." Reacting to Somy Ali's statement, Devendra Budiya (Bishnoi) said: "If Salman himself apologises, the Bishnoi society will consider the apology. The mistake was not made by Somy Ali, but it was committed by Salman. Therefore, he should propose to the Bishnoi society that he wants to apologise.” “He should come to the temple and seek forgiveness. He should further take an oath that he will never make such a mistake in the future and will always work to protect wildlife and conserve the environment. If he does this, a decision of the society to forgive him will be considered." Salman Khan along with actors Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam were booked for hunting blackbucks while shooting for 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in October 1998. He was also sentenced to five-year rigorous imprisonment in 2018, though he is out on bail presently. On April 14, two miscreants opened fire at Salman Khan's Mumbai residence. The plot was believed to be hatched by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as a fallout of the blackbuck poaching case, triggering the apology from Somy Ali. Salman was last seen in the thriller film 'Tiger 3', which performed well at the box office. Helmed by Maneesh Sharma, the film also starred Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles. His next project is 'Sikandar', which is directed by AR Murugadoss. Rashmika Mandanna will play the female lead in the film.  (With inputs from IANS)

Zeenat Aman drops nostalgic post

Zeenat Aman recalls enjoying 'a few cigarettes a day', here's what made her quit

Zeenat Aman's influencer era is in full swing. The actress has been enjoying her time on Instagram, sharing nostalgic nuggets of gold from the bygone era of Bollywood with the world. Today Zeenat Aman has decided to treat us with yet another nostalgic picture. This time it is from the sets of ‘Chhailla Babu’. While sharing a picture with the director of the film Joy Mukherjee and the effervescent Dimple Kapadia, along with the film Zeenat has written a long caption. Zeenat Aman wrote, “I can’t recollect where this picture was taken, but it quite certainly had something to do with the film Chhailla Babu. Perhaps it’s a BTS shot from set. I say this because while the chairs scream “production”, I’m in my own clothes not a costume. With me are the director of the film Joy Mukherjee and the effervescent Dimple Kapadia, who must have been visiting set as she was married to the lead actor.”           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Zeenat Aman (@thezeenataman) She further added, “Dimple and I both got big career breaks thanks to Raj Kapoor. She as a teenager, when she was cast in and as Bobby. Whereas I was able to deliver a blow to my “western image” thanks to SSS.” Further while elaborating on why she has made this post, Zeenat wrote, “This isn’t a post about Dimple’s talent though she has that in spades, it’s about the little I saw of her character. During a very difficult phase in my life she was one of a mere handful of people who publicly stood by me. This despite the criticism and scrutiny of her own life that the decision invited! In those trying times she revealed to me a strength of character that I admire to date. I don’t believe she is on Instagram, but perhaps @twinklerkhanna will pass on my love to her. Truly, a wave of appreciation washed over me when I found this picture some days ago.” She further concluded the note by asking people to get influenced by her smoking in the picture and wrote, “On another note, please don’t be influenced by my smoking in this image! I’ll admit I enjoyed a few cigarettes a day between my late teens and early 30s, but that all went out of the window the minute I became pregnant with my first born!”
