In an interview to US magazine Parade Pitt said that he pretended to make his marriage to Aniston "something that it wasn't".

The 47-year-old actor, who was married to Aniston for five years, said in the interview that his life before his relationship with current partner, Angelina Jolie, was "pathetic" because he spent a lot of time smoking marijuana and hiding.

"I think that my marriage (to Aniston) had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't.
