Baby found dead near Mahim

The body of a baby boy, said to be around two months old, was found by the Mahim police near Mahim seaface on Monday morning. After the baby was found wrapped in a cloth, cops rushed him to Sion Hospital. Unfortunately, the baby was declared dead before admission.

A police officer informed DNA, "The control received a call from an unknown lady. When the police arrived there, the baby was kept in the middle of two rocks and was still. When we took the baby to the hospital, he was declared dead."

The officer further told DNA, "We have registered a case against unknown persons under section 318 of Indian Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body."

On further investigations, the officer added, "We have searched the area for CCTV cameras, and have found one quite close to the spot. Besides this we have also interrogated a couple of people there too to make a sketch of the accused."
