Mumbai: Janhavi Gadkar wants her tainted car to be painted white

Based on an application moved by Janhavi Gadkar in the Sessions Court last month — seeking permission to change the colour of her Audi Q3 — Additional Sessions Judge RG Wankhade yesterday asked the prosecution to file its reply on March 17.

In her application, Gadkar sought permission to change the colour of her car from red to white citing unavailability of the shade of red her car was painted with at the time of purchase.

Gadkar had filed a similar application in December — seeking permission to repair her damaged vehicle — to which Judge Wankhade had replied: “The applicant is permitted to get the said car repaired without changing any colour of the car and to maintain the same, after getting approval from the RTO Authority about the use and fitness of the vehicle.”

Speaking to mid-day, the prosecution said it was going to oppose Gadkar’s request. The lawyer also revealed that the court has given another date in June on which the prosecution is likely to open the case.

The case
In the wee hours of June 10, 2015, Gadkar (35) rammed her car into a taxi on the Eastern Freeway killing two people.

She was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident. The deceased were identified as Mohammed Abdul Sayyad (55) and Mohammed Salim Sabuwala (50).
