For Vineeta Singh, 34, running a marathon isn't something new; she has been doing that for a decade. But in this year's Tata Mumbai Marathon, she switched things up: by running 21 km in 2:42:51s, while being six months pregnant. Giving her company on the course was her husband Kaushik Mukherjee, 35. Singh, who lives in Powai, told mid-day, "I have been running full marathons since 2007. I have run nine full marathons so far and it was a different feeling to complete the half marathon today being pregnant. Since I am six months pregnant, I had to take medical advice before I ran."

Did her research
"I know perceptions are different in our country for pregnant women, but I did a lot of research and trained accordingly. I even consulted my doctor, who told me I needed to take a few precautions, like consuming liquids and food before and after the run, which I did. There was a lot of crowd support throughout the route. And with the necessary fluids (enerzal and water) available, it was no struggle to complete the race," said Singh, who started an e-commerce platform five years ago with her husband. The duo has been running full marathons together since 2007.

Not without my husband
Singh said about her husband, "We met at IIM-Ahmedabad and have been married for six years. I couldn't have completed the race without his support. Sometimes we run together and at times, solo." The mom-to-be also wanted to thank the Mumbai crowd, "they cheered for me throughout the course."
